I’ve often been told that GTApreneurs has the best business networking events. One guest at our Newmarket event said, “These events are the best ones I attend.” I asked her what makes them the best. She replied, “They are lucrative.” One of our members who provides a digital marketing service also said that GTApreneurs networking events are the only ones he has gotten business from. Other members have said that it’s because we are the only business networking organization that gives the guest contact sheet to guests after our events. Another guest told me that everyone is friendly and welcoming, and it must be because of me.
It always makes me happy to hear that our guests and members enjoy our events and find them to be financially beneficial for their businesses. That’s why I got into the networking business in the first place.. to host great events where everyone is happy and does business together.
Mind you, there is an art and skill to networking, so some people will fair better than others. But, networking is a skill that everyone can learn and be successful at, if they follow my advice.
Why do I think we have some of the best business networking events in Toronto and the GTA?
DIFFERENT STYLES
For one, we offer 3 different styles of events. Once a month it is a virtual networking event, once or twice a month is at a pub, and once a month for 8 months a year it is at official event space. These different styles give variety to our guests and members, who have the opportunity to get to know each other and promote their businesses in different settings.
GUEST CONTACT SHEET
Secondly, we are the only business networking company that provides an organized guest contact sheet after our events. The sheets include the names of all guests, their professional titles, company names, cities, websites, and LinkedIn urls, if they give it to us when registering, plus if they give us permission to share their email address and/or phone number with the other event guests, we add them to the sheet as well. Having this sheet is a real time saver, as guests can upload the sheet, with the guests who are in their target market in one move to their CRMs, instead of entering each person manually in their CRM or manually creating the sheet from a bunch of business cards. It is also good, because it ensures that even if guests don’t have time to talk to all other guests, they have the information they need to reach out to the guests afterwards to arrange a meeting.
Networking success is in the follow-up, so it is much harder to be successful with business networking if you don’t get a contact sheet.
FRIENDLY, POSITIVE, WELCOMING
As our networking event hosts, including myself, are very friendly, outgoing, and welcoming, people who attend our events and exude these qualities keep coming back, so when we have new people in attendance, they experience friendliness and openness from many people.
FORMATS – Guest Speaker, Elevator Pitches
Our event formats are unique, especially the virtual events and most of our end-of-month events. These two events both feature a Guest Speaker, who gives an informative presentation for 20 minutes. Then, guests, have the option to give an elevator pitch. Some other events have one element to their events that is similar to ours, but, the combination of elements we put together is what gives us a unique distinction from other networking events. As most of our end-of-month events take place at paid event spaces, we can control the volume, so guests can actually hear each other speak. At many networking events, the space size is smaller, and with so many people talking in a small area, and music playing overhead, it can be too noisy for effective networking.
