Vision is something that no one can see, but you, until you’ve had the chance to explain it to others, and even then, you will always have the clearest vision of how you want your business to evolve.
Hopefully you have a vision for your business. It’s so important that most business plan templates have a section for you to type in your vision. When considering the vision for your business, include the vision of your lifestyle with it, as that is one of the benefits of having your own business – you can craft your business around the lifestyle you want for yourself.
One of our members did just that when transitioning from her full-time ownership of a travel agency to a business where she can get clients wherever she goes, whether it be in Hawaii on vacation, at the dog park, at a networking event or at a neighbour’s bbq. She had the vision of earning income while doing what she loves.
You can do the same thing!
It doesn’t matter if no one shares your vision, and it doesn’t matter if others have a different perception of success than you. It is your life, and you get to define what success means for you. But, I hope it includes happiness along the journey at its core.
When it comes to a vision for your business and business success, do some market research to confirm that there is a market for what you want to offer, the make an action plan and get to work.
When times get tough and you are tired, remember your vision and keep on going. Take breaks when needed and enjoy the journey.
Have you ever heard of Nelson Mandela? He is a famous South African anti-apartheid activist, politician, and statesman. He endured 27 years of prison due to fighting apartheid, the racial segregation imposed by the government during that time. He was finally freed and eventually became the President of South Africa in 1994.
He could have had his spirit completely crushed and given up on fighting for his beliefs while imprisoned but, he didn’t. Instead, he kept his vision for a racially equal South Africa in his mind, until he was able to make it a reality. After all of that, he shared some thoughts that I hope will inspire you if they haven’t already touched you in the past.
It’s so true! He had a vision, kept that vision, then took action and inspired not only his country, but millions of others across the world.
Have you ever thought that you can’t do it or no one will want to hire you/buy from you? You are not alone. It is a very common phenomenon among new entrepreneurs. The truth is, if you can visualize it and believe that you can do it, plan and take action, you can be successful. Ask for help when you need it and take time off for yourself.
If you ever feel so overwhelmed and you want to give up, remember these other words from Mandela…
If others tell you that your goal is too lofty and you’ll never achieve it. Don’t listen to them. If your vision, your abilities and your research tell you that you can do it, go for it and find others who will celebrate your vision and help you to be successful to share in your journey.
Some people will never be able to see your vision as they are too self-focused and only imagine what they can do. Some will think if they can’t do it, then neither can you. Take my advice..
